We're building something new!
A new recycling shopping center and sorting station are being built in Matkus! Together with Elävä Foundation and Jätekukko, we are creating a completely new recycling concept in the Matkus area.
The new concept is a joint project between Ingka Centres Kuopio Oy, Elävä Foundation, and Jätekukko Oy. The concept includes two separate operational areas: a shopping center focused on reuse, operated by Elävä Foundation, and a material sorting station, operated by Jätekukko Oy. Ingka Centres Kuopio Oy is the developer and landlord for both parties. Ingka Centres owns the Matkus shopping center and is part of the same group as IKEA stores.
The new concept will open in summer 2026.
